You Are Here: FAQ

Q: Nothing happens when I put the CD into my computer (PC).

A: The first thing is to make sure that you have found the disk on your computer, so that you can open it and open the files it contains. Go to 'My Computer'. You should see the Rainbow Disk in the list that appears. Click on this to open the disk, then double click on the file that has the name of your book followed by ‘.pdf’.

Q: The video files in my Rainbow Disks ebook are not working when I click on them (see below for African Drumming Workshop titles).

A: The video and sound files are embedded in the pdf file, so are played by Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader for the iPad (current version) will not read video and sound files. From January 2012 we have included the video files in a separate folder on the disk, so that they can be played directly by whatever media player you are using.

Q: The sound files on my African Drumming Workshop disk are not working when I click on them.

A: From December 2011 these ebooks have been updated. The video and sound files are now embedded in the pdf file, so are played by Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader for the iPad (current version) will not read video and sound files but these are now also included in a separate folder on the disk, so that they can be played directly. The previous version of these ebooks has sound files in mp3 format. If your computer has problems playing the sound files, this may be due to the software that you use to play .mp3 files. On a Mac, it works best if you use iTunes, and on a PC if you use Windows Media Player. On a PC, you need to set the playback software as a file association under the 'folder options' tab of the control panel. Also, it may help to copy all files to your hard disk rather than working from the CD. If necessary you can go into the folder of sound files and open them directly.

Q: The video files on my African Drumming Workshop disk are not working when I click on them.

A: From December 2011 these ebooks have been updated. The video and sound files are now embedded in the pdf file, so are played by Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader for the iPad will not read video and sound files but these are now also included in a separate folder on the disk, so that they can be played directly. The videos are mp4 files. There are various players that will play mp4 files but one of the best and easiest to deal with is VLC. You can download this free at www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_mp4_files.cfm
